What is Health and What Does Being Healthy Mean to You?
Health is so much more than the absence of disease. Health to me is about physical health and mental health. To be physically healthy you give your body what it needs such as food (nutrients), water, and exercise. Mental health to me is being in a good state of mind but also knowing and having the tools to help yourself when you exit that good state of mind.
Health is having a good balance in life, of everything you love and what is good for you. Indulging in bad habits is bad for your health, which is why balance is a necessity in health and quality of life. Health to me means feeling good mentally and eating the right balance of food to be in the best shape possible for oneself.
Health is the way you live. Health can be what you eat and how you do things. Health can also be the people you surround yourself with and what you do with your free time. I think health shapes you and your life.
To me, it is the thing I am most grateful for because it facilitates other aspects in my life - like the contributions I make to my sports community, or the encouragement I can offer to a lonely peer on campus. It is the manifestation of taking care of all aspects of one’s self - from nourishing food to awareness of anxiety, health is a broad but important term.
Health to me means, being sound physically, mentally, spiritually, socially, emotionally and financially. If you are not financially well at a point, trust me there's no way your health will be good, if you're not emotionally well at point, you will never be good in health. What do you do to keep yourself healthy?
In order to stay healthy, you need to live an active and aware lifestyle. This means getting at least 30 minutes of exercise daily, eating a well balanced diet, and try and reduce stress in your lifestyle. Becoming more active will help with stress levels and eating a well balanced diet will help keep you healthy.
Even if your diet consists of whole fruits, vegetables, clean proteins, and quality fats, you should still consider supplementing with vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. The reasons for this include soil depletion, modern day food preferences, stressful lifestyles, antibiotic exposure, travel demands, and specific health and performance goals.
Because I think every life is precious I know that if you just inspired one person to live with more health and show people that you care, without judging or shaming them, you can inspire them to help themselves and build a better sense of self-worth.
If you don’t take time to take care of your health now, you’re gonna have to make time for feeling sick and tired later.
